My kindergarten teacher's name was Edith Glei. (Pronounced "Gly"). Her family owns a very nice greenhouse in Hillsdale, out in the countryside. It's called, aptly enough, "Glei's Orchards and Greenhouses."
Tuesday evening on my way to band rehearsal, driving along the countryside, I noticed a huge billowing cloud of smoke rising into the sky. It was off in the distance, away from the main road, so I couldn't see exactly what was burning or precisely where it was.
My first thought was "Wow, that is some really black smoke."
My second thought was "Well, no, actually it's more of a gray. Like Lee & Morgen's cat Spooker."
And then, after I'd finished arguing with myself about the precise correct terminology for the color, my third thought was "Wow, I wonder what the heck's going on???"
Well, later that evening I learned that it was Glei's that was on fire.
This isn't the first time it's burned down, either.
It burned back in 1990, too. Not sure why.
Here's an article about it.
It's unsettling to think about, because I'VE BEEN in that building before, and now it's completely gone. They estimated over a million dollars' worth of damage.
Scary.
I feel bad for them, having to re-build everything again.

Oh my... that´s scary. Hope nobody got hurt (physically - can´t imagine how much the loss of personal goods must hurt mentally)!
Sanni: Yes, I imagine it must have been a terrifying sight for them!
How come I didn't know about this blog? Are there others I need to link to also? Is there and endless supply of Janna out there in the interworld. Do I have to google you?
I wonder how that would work as a parental threat. Behave yourself or else I'll google you!
I'm sorry about the fire and your lack of gas. Does that mean no hot water?
Marilyn: The fire was 25 miles away... and I was referring to the gas in my car....
So far I have these 4 blogs:
Jantics
The Jannaverse
Jantrails
Jannagraphics
I will link to those I have not linked to. Linkage will occure at about 9:00 mountain time if the weather cooperates.
The building next door to mine caught on fire on the 3rd as well. It didn't burn to the ground but an apartment was pretty well gutted and destroyed. Tony smelled something burning and I dismissed it as firecrackers. Then he pointed out the three fire trucks on our street. SCARY.
Over a million dollars -- that's a lot of petunias.
Gone. All gone.
How sad.
I love how you phrased, "So far I have these 4 blogs..."
So far.
Heee hhheeee hee.
Marilyn: Thank you immensely for any links you care to give! I am grateful!
Natalie: Fire can be a scary thing!
Morgen: So far.... :)
