Manic Monday: Wind

I wondered what to say for today's Manic Monday theme, because quite a few ideas hit me at once.

Of course the FIRST thing that came to mind was when my home got destroyed by a windstorm a few years ago. You can read about that HERE; I blogged about it back in March, when the Manic Monday word was "Blow". It's a bad memory of a very frightening event.

Then I thought about our Wind Ensemble (which I've often referred to on the Jannaverse simply as "band"). I have a good time playing french horn in that group. Our concert is tomorrow! (July 24th). This may explain a nightmare I had a couple nights ago... I dreamed that it was right before the concert, and I couldn't find my music OR my french horn! Egad! Horrors!
The Wind Ensemble is also referred to as the Hillsdale Community Wind Ensemble or Hillsdale Community Band. It's comprised of about 60 people from various counties in southern Michigan. It's a fun group, and I really appreciate the opportunity to hone my musical skills. I am grateful for the fact that the director trusts me with solos, and in this concert I have solos in three different pieces: Lord Of The Rings, Dusk, and Doxology.
Looking forward to it! :)

I have never lived through anything so terrifying. I'm glad you and the cats escaped okay.
~~Isn't the French horn the hardest of the winds to play? I sang in the community choir - we performed Handel's Messiah at Christmas. It's awesome to be a part of something like that.

Gracie: The french horn is a difficult instrument to play with good accuracy and intonation... it's a challenge I always enjoy, though.
I love to play.

Living in Arkansas we get lots of "windstorms" in the form of tornadoes as well! Thankfully I've never been in one, but they've been all around us. :(

I was wondering if either the tornado or the wind ensemble would be covered by you today, and here you do both in one post!
cheers!

You are so fortunate to have the talent and ability to play. That side of a good wind is a gift to everyone.

My daughter plays the flute and that in and of itself seems tough but she would love to learn the French horn someday. Perhaps her band instructor will let her branch out some now that she's in Concert Band 2 this coming year.
