When I need to relax or lessen the pain of a headache, I have this imagery exercise I do. I imagine I'm inhaling blue, and exhaling red. I imagine the most beautiful, peaceful, pure shade of blue possible, and take a deep breath. I picture its fresh clean pureness washing away any pain or stress. Then I envision an ugly, bright, bloody, alarming shade of red, gradually being purged out of me as I exhale.
Then I repeat the process. Inhale the peace, Exhale the stress.
It doesn't always make the headache go away completely, but it always helps somewhat.
And when you have headaches like mine, every little bit helps.

I might try that next time. At the very least it should still the thoughts and not make them rage at the headache.
