One of my ancestors was a pirate.
Well, sort of.
He was a privateer captain who was assigned to harass the Spanish ships back in the 1700's. You could say that the King of England gave him permission to be a pirate.
He was Major Thomas Jones. From what I understand, there is a park dedicated to him in New York.
I wonder what his ship was like and what he was like.
I also have Native American ancestry (Potawatomi), plus I'm related to Benjamin Franklin.
Pirates, Indians, and Benjamin Franklin.
Is it any wonder I became a geek who loves water, nature, and science?
Plus there was that time I flew that kite in the thunderstorm after I'd finished doing the rain dance next to the Jolly Roger...

Interesting family history. Happy MM!
wow, what a great ancestral past you have!
Great MM Post! This is the second MM post to remind me of the importance of knowing your family history...
My MM post this week involves cruising on the high seas.
peace, Villager
Here is a good bio on Thomas Jones
I love the fact that his wife's name was "Freelove".
Sheila: Happy MM to you too!
Tegdirb: I like it too. :)
Villager: I saw that! Your post is about yachting, which sounds like fun.
Jamie: Fascinating! This says he was in the 1600's, not 1700's, and it also says the privateer thing might have been just a myth! Wow! I wonder what the truth is?
Your blog is in ship shape! Come aboard my ship over on my blog!
Monkeys: Hey.... you said the exact same thing over at Jantics.... and Jannaverse....
Why doesn't this surprise me? Well it doesn't. I think it's wonderful. Have a great MM. :)
Sandee: Happy MM to you too!
Great post!
By the way, I don't think you're a geek. ;)
Happy MM, thanks for stopping by.
Hehehehehehe
It's always good to find rationale for our quirkiness.
Happy MM!
CWM: It's ok; I LIKE geeks. So I'm great friends with myself. :)
Travis: Any rationale will do!
