A couple weeks ago someone asked me who my favorite Russian composer is.
At the time I actually had trouble thinking about it. This bugs me. I'm a music nerd; I should KNOW things like that.
The easy no-brainer answer, of course, would be to say "Tchaikovsky," but really his music doesn't grab me all that much.
The more I thought about it, the more I've decided that my favorite Russian composer is Rachmaninoff.
I love his Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, and I love the Symphony in C Major.
I wish I had both of them on CD.
Spread the word.
